Fab has been a brilliant keeper for us but never ever has he been as good as Parkes.

I haven't got selective memory, Parkes was better

Re: Fab isn't Happy
That's pure selective memory, go and watch clips back of him, he was a good keeper, Fabianski is a different level.

Parkes was outstanding for us. Saw loads of him in the flesh, so don't need to try to find a few clips of him, to know he was much better than Fabianski. Fab, has been great for us though.

Ludo is not even in the conversation with the other two.

I know most like to look back with rose tinted specs, so it's pointless debating.

Totally agree with another poster below, anyone who thinks Fab is better than speak Phil Parkes must need their head read.

‘Best keeper the club has ever had’

Fab has been decent but not a patch on Parkes or Ludo

Re: Fab isn't Happy
Nagal from that it reads that Moyes tapped him on the shoulder during training and told him he was dropped in front of everyone

Moyes is from a different era where the like it or lump it mentality creates “winners” . An approach that served him well at Man Utd, Sunderland, in Spain and created the success at West Ham.

Fab is a great servant to the club, one of our best ever keepers, a very professional and quiet individual who probably thinks Moyes approach was out of order, outdated, and lacking in tact and integrity.

Players like Fab are the cancer that runs through this club. I just hope Lingard and Maguire joins and their influence gives a bit more professionalism and care for the club and it spreads through the team.

Re: Fab isn't Happy
All depends what was said when he signed his contract extension. If he was promised that he would be first choice (can't see that he would have been!) then fair enough but he is 38 now and Areola is a perfectly good keeper who is proven in the PL with Fulham and has been patient so far... presumably promises have also been made to him along the way.

Difficult to keep both happy but if I was Areola I would be highly pissed off with a third year as second fiddle.

Eerie Descent 2:25 Tue Aug 15
Re: Fab isn't Happy
Yeah, nowhere near as good as Fabianski. That's pure selective memory, go and watch clips back of him, he was a good keeper, Fabianski is a different level. You'll realise once he's gone.

Best keeper the club has ever had.

So you never saw Phil Parkes play for us, then?

Re: Fab isn't Happy
This thing about "you can probably feel my pain", might be down to the translation. I don't think he was looking for sympathy, just saying that the interviewer could see that he was upset about it. Using Google translate from a Polish website he said it as "I think you can feel quite a lot of pain in my words". The whole sentence reads like this:

"To be honest, I felt a huge surprise and anger. I was completely unprepared for something like this mentally. The whole way it was played out and presented is very strange to me. I'll just say this because I think you can feel quite a lot of pain in my words.

"I believe that with my attitude from the moment I have been at this club, my work and cooperation with the coaching staff, I deserve much better circumstances, place and time of such a conversation. This is my subjective opinion, but I believe that I should be treated much better at this moment."

“I think Fab feels this decision should have been discussed before he signed his new contract rather than 2days before the 1st game.”

That sounds feasible. They’ve probably stitched Fabianski up, because they were probably worried, they’d have another stalwart/senior pro, leaving.

‘Roll up, roll up - come see the West Ham (Un) united circus in town, folks.’

Re: Fab isn't Happy
This sort of stuff "should" be kept in house, but it's the way of the world now with so many TV channels, social media, etc. Who is to say Areola didn't throw a wobbly behind closed doors, after all there was rumours he wanted away. Maybe it's a case of drop the old fella or the other one, who possibly isn't quite as good will be out of the door leaving us with a 38 year old and some kids. It stinks of Moyes mana management skills or as we already know severe lack of them. He never learns does he.

Takashi Miike 1:23 Tue Aug 15
Re: Fab isn't Happy
you're expecting tact from a bloke who last season had a player next to him at the pre match press conference (always a player that's about to play) and didn't pick him. the jock arsehole couldn't spell tact. he needs to go

Eerie Descent 1:22 Tue Aug 15
Re: Fab isn't Happy
Yeah, obviously Fabianski is to blame.

Best keeper the club has ever had, been an absolute consummate professional since he's been here, saved our bacon season after season, and deserved to be treated with some respect.

Yet we're to side with the antagonistic Ginge, who has fallen out with countless players and coaching staff during his time with us, becoming too many to name, even Cresswell is on strike after a decade here FFS

CanningTownWA 12:43 Tue Aug 15
Re: Fab isn't Happy
He’s more upset at the way it was handled than being dropped.
Tact is needed when handling a squad and you need to try and keep everyone happy and motivated. Once team spirit is lossed it’s all downhill from there, regardless of wages

Crassus 12:41 Tue Aug 15
Re: Fab isn't Happy
Much of a muchness between them as far as I can see
And all keepers are loons at the best of time

That said, I'd suggest that dropping the bloke required a degree of tact which appears to have been missing.
Not so much the message but the way it was delivered being the problem - again

And it would be so West Ham for Fab to throw his bollox at the clock and then Nips to get injured in ten minutes against Chelsea

Stevethehammer,

That sounds ridiculous - let’s hope that isn’t true.

I’ve actually heard that they want a more experienced back up GK, so we’re going to re-sign Roberto for a million.

That’s from a very reliable source, I might add.

Willtell 12:32 Tue Aug 15
Re: Fab isn't Happy
A couple of points. Fab is on an annual contract now because of his age.

I feel that Areola did not outplay Fab in the pre-season games and it was obviously a decision made well in advance to stop Areola seeking a move as reported earlier this summer.

I think Fab feels this decision should have been discussed before he signed his new contract rather than 2days before the 1st game.

Stevethehammer 12:27 Tue Aug 15
Re: Fab isn't Happy
Rumour has it Nathan Trott will be recalled from his loan and take Fabianski's place on the bench alongside Anang
